Director and Senior Associate

Deirdre Casey joins PKC People’s team of experts in June 2022 as a Director and Associate with a specific focus on financial and tax expertise for HR Teams.

Deirdre Casey

Deirdre has over 20 years’ experience of working as an inhouse tax and finance specialist in large corporates in the financial services sector. She has led and implemented the finance aspects of many HR related projects such as large scale payroll and benefits reviews, pension schemes redundancy and mobility programmes.

Since 2010 as both teacher and trainer she has also lead many wellness programmes and workshops in the healthcare and community sector.

Fluent in French, she is a skilled trainer in programmes promoting confidence and overcoming blocks to expression.

She has designed and implemented employee wellness programmes with specific emphasis on employee vitality, mental and emotional wellbeing.

“I integrate and consolidate the intellectual with the practical learned from wisdom teachers and more recent pioneering thinkers and writers about human growth and potential and contextualise them in a visionary way to create wellbeing sessions very relevant to the needs of today’s workplaces”

Deirdre is a qualified accountant and a charted tax advisor of the Irish Taxation Institute. She holds a Masters in Business Ethics from KU Leuven in Belgium together with recognised teaching qualification in Physical Education. She has completed several complimentary health and personal development trainings and over 200 days of practice in meditation retreats since 2014.

She describes her own wellness journey as follows :

“While I trained originally as a PE teacher and worked in the health and leisure industry at the beginning of my professional career, my drive for further intellectual endeavour continued to dominate my career path resulting in amassing more professional qualifications and moving to management roles in large corporate workplaces. I also felt I ticked the wellbeing box by being a strong middle distance runner.

However my interest in wellbeing evolved and expanded more through necessity when my own life suddenly seemed to mirror the global economic collapse in 2008. Through many personal and professional setbacks all happening at the same time, my life as I knew it crumbled. No amount of intellectual endeavour or elite running could help me figure it all out at that time and I was at a complete loss on how to regain a sense of peace, contentment and purpose in my life.

Through the exploration of many approaches centred around thoughts/feelings/emotions/vitality /mind trainings, I gradually rebuilt my life from the inside out which first lead to major mind shifts within myself and ultimately many transformative life changes. “

He has a charisma that brings lightness and tenacity , enabling us not to lose hope in finding the right fit for the organisation. In fact his input has allowed us to see the management team and our challenges in a clearer light. We have great hopes and optimism for this continuing improvement in 2022
— Executive Team
Pat has helped me get the one job I wanted . While I really wanted the position and believed it a good fit I was feeling despondent due to a number of personal setbacks. He inspired optimism and gave me key tips to excel in the recruitment process. Without him and his positive outlook and clear outline of my skills I don’t believe I would have been the successful candidate. Thanks so
much Pat.
